Silvered Langurs

Silvered langurs (Trachypithecus margarita) primarily eat leaves, but also some fruit, seed, flowers and young shoots.

Silvered langurs are born with bright orange fur.  The young will be carried and cared for by all the females within a group (this is known as "allmothering").

Silvered langurs are little studied in Vietnam and the remaining population density is currently unknown.  Their ideal habitat is riverine forests, with four locations known in Cat Tien National Park to hold small groups.  Group sizes range from 9-51, with groups of 12 seen in Cat Tien National Park (Dan pers.obs 2009), and these can easily be identified with their bright orange infants.
