Education and Awareness

EAST is working to find solutions to the problems of the illegal wildlife trade.  Education and awareness is a vital part of this conservation work, as it focuses on stopping this problem at its core.

Our education programme works with both local and international communities, raising awareness about how we all influence, and can therefore stop, the illegal trade in endangered primates.

Get Your School Involved!

There are many different ways that the work of EAST can be incorporated into your school activities, and you can support the vital conservation work carried out by EAST in Vietnam:
 

We Can Come To You!
 

Dao Tien offers an Outreach Programme to International Schools in Southern Vietnam where a member of our Education Team can come to your class, either as an independent visit, or in collaboration with a school trip to Cat Tien National Park.

A typical Outreach session includes a presentation, followed by a classroom activity relating to the topic.
Topcs include (but are not limited to):
  • Introduction to Dao Tien and the Work of EAST in Vietnam
  • The Life of Loris
  • What's Great about Gibbons?
Talks and classroom activities are available in English or Vietnamese, and can be tailored to meet your schools' needs and your curriculum.

Suitable for all ages from Kindergarten to University.

Cost: $100 per day (including one presentation and classroo, activity), pluss $50 per additional presentations/activities required.

Please note: This cost covers expenses associated with travel to and from your school from our site in Cat Tien National Park.  Any remaining money goes straight back to support the running of Dao Tien and the primates cared for there.

Have a Special Primate Day!
 

If your school is not based in South Vietnam, don't worry.  We can still help you run your own awareness activities.

Our Teaching Resources page has lots of different activities and resources to facilitate conservation lessons, including a new loris activity book.

We can also give you any information you need about the primate species EAST works with, ideas for lessons, and how your school can be actively involved in our work.  Email us at education@go-east.org.


Sponsor One of the Primates at Dao Tien
 

Sponsorship support is invaluable to the work at Dao Tien.  your contributions really make a difference to the lives of these animals and the local staffemployed to look after them.  Your school or class can sponsor one of the animals being cared for at Daot Tien, from rescue to release.

Special school sponsorship packages are available, and include regular updates about your animal. classroom activities, pictures and a keyring or wristband for each child in the class.  See our Sponsorship pages to find out more.
 

Fundraise to Help Support the Work at Dao Tien
 

As a charity we rely on your support to continue our work, and we would love for schools to help us achieve this through fundraising and awareness.

EAST can support any school fundraising and awareness activities by offering assemblies, updates on where the money has gone, and any information you require.
